Texas Tech Falls to Seventh Ranked Texas

LUBBOCK, Texas - No. 21 Texas Tech men's tennis team came up short in Sunday's match versus in-state rival No. 7 Texas, losing to the Longhorns 4-1 at the McLeod Tennis Center.

The Red Raiders showed promise early in the match during doubles play. On the court two, the duo of sophomore Reed Collier and junior Issac Arevalo got Tech out to an early start with a 6-4 decision over Cleeve Harper and Chihi Chi Huang. In his final home match, senior Parker Wynn and partner, junior Franco Ribero defeated the tenth ranked doubles team of Eliot Spizzirri and Siem Woldeab 7-5, securing the point for the Red Raiders.

With an early lead the Red Raiders seemed poised for the upset, but simply ran out of time. Singles play saw hard fought battles throughout all six courts, but eventually Texas came away with the victory. The loss drops the Red Raiders record to 12-6 overall, 1-4 in conference.
