Texas Tech will have 10 Red Raiders participating Wednesday inside the Sports Performance Center
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech will have 10 Red Raiders participating in its annual Pro Day event Wednesday inside the Sports Performance Center. Due to restrictions from COVID-19, the event will be closed to the public.
Â
Team personnel from close to 20 NFL franchises are expected to descend on Lubbock for Pro Day, which will feature five members off Texas Tech's 2020 roster, namely offensive lineman Jack Anderson, defensive lineman Eli Howard, defensive backs Thomas Leggett and Zech McPhearson as well as wide receiver T.J. Vasher. Â
Â
The event will also feature the return of four Red Raiders from previous seasons in 2019 graduates Douglas Coleman III, Houston Miller and RJ Turner as well as 2018 team members Kolin Hill and Tre King. Coleman and Turner both were unable to participate in a Pro Day a year ago due to the rapid rise of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Â
Pro Day is slated to begin at 10 a.m. with measurements followed by the bench press, vertical jump and broad jump. Participants will also be timed in the 40-yard dash and shuttle run before performing position-specific drills for the scouts in attendance.
Â
Due to the cancelation of in-person participation at the NFL Scouting Combine, this will be the only opportunity for the nine Red Raiders to impress NFL personnel. The trio of Anderson, McPhearson and Vasher all received NFL Scouting Combine invitations, which for the 2021 draft, features only virtual meetings with NFL clubs and medical personnel.
Â
Texas Tech will have extensive Pro Day coverage on its social media channels, specifically @TexasTechFB on Twitter and @TexasTech_FB on Instagram. Complete results will be posted to TexasTech.com later that afternoon.
