Five Red Raiders Earn Academic All-Big 12

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech men's team had five Academic All-Big 12 First-Team selections with seniors Andy Lopez, Kyle Hogan and Sandy Scott along with sophomores Ludvig Aberg and Garrett Martin earning the honor.Â
Hogan and Scott were nominated with a 4.0 GPA and are both now four-time Academic All-Big 12 Team selections. Hogan, who graduated last May, is pursuing his MBA at Texas Tech while Scott is completing his University Studies degree. Lopez earns the award for the second straight season, while Martin and Aberg secure the honor for the first time as sophomores. Aberg is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Big 12 Championship for the top Red Raider finish in a season where has won two titles coming at The Prestige and the Thunderbird Collegiate.
A total of 107 student-athletes are honored on the 2021 Academic All-Big 12 Golf Team. The team is comprised of 57 men's golf honorees (48 first team and nine second team), along with 50 women's golf selections (46 first team and four second team) and has a total of 98 combined first team honorees.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.
