The Red Raider duo was recognized Saturday after earning first team All-Region Accolades
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Baseball's Jace Jung and Cal Conley added to their list of accolades Saturday as the duo have been named Third Team All-Americans by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings.
Texas Tech led the Big 12 as the only school with multiple bids on the ABCA/Rawlings All-America teams.
It's the fifth All-America honor for Jung, who was named a First Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, the NCBWA and Perfect Game as well as a second team selection by Baseball America. For Conley, it marks his third All-America honor as he was tabbed to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's second team and the NCBWA's third team.
Texas Tech hits double-digits with its All-America total following the 2021 season. In addition to their eight All-America awards, the middle infield tandem were also named Freshman All-Americans by the NCBWA.
Jung has compiled quite the list of awards following his second season in Lubbock. The freshman second baseman was tabbed Big 12 Player of the Year and a unanimous All-Big 12 First Team selection. The NCBWA named him their National Freshman Hitter of the Year, their District 7 Co-Player of the Year, and a member of their District 7 First Team. He is also a member of the ABCA All-Region Team, a Golden Spikes Award semifinalist and was a Dick Howser Trophy finalist.
Jung helped lead the Red Raiders to their third consecutive Super Regional appearance, including a 3-0 sweep of the Lubbock Regional. He hit .337 on the year and led the Big 12 with 21 home runs, 67 RBI, and a .697 slugging percentage, ranking among the nation's best in all three categories. Additionally, he accomplished the rare feat of reaching base safely in every game during the regular season.
Conley was honored earlier this week with the 2021 Brooks Wallace Award, which goes to the nation's top shortstop. He was an All-Big 12 First Team selection after hitting .329 with 15 home runs and 55 RBI. He led the squad with 23 multi-hit games and hit safely in 43-of-56 games this season.
