Jung Receives Seventh All-America Honor

The Red Raider second baseman was named to D1Baseball’s second team.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Baseball's Jace Jung has been named a Second Team All-American by D1Baseball, it was announced Monday.

It's the seventh All-America honor for Jung, making him a consensus All-American.
Â
Four of the seven honors have recognized Jung on their first team, including Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, the NCBWA, Perfect Game and the College Baseball Foundation. D1Baseball joins Baseball America in naming him to their second team, while the ABCA placed him on their third team. Jung also received a Freshman All-American billing by the NCBWA.

Jung is one of two student-athletes representing the Big 12 to make D1Baseball's All-America list, which consists of three teams. Texas starting pitcher Ty Madden earned a first team bid.

As a whole, Tech has earned 11 All-America awards following its 2021 campaign, adding a pair of Freshman All-America accolades as well.

Jung has quickly become one of the most decorated players in the country. The second baseman was named the Big 12 Player of the Year, NCBWA National Freshman Hitter of the Year, NCBWA District 7 Co-Player of the Year and was a finalist for the Dick Howser Trophy. Additionally, he was a unanimous All-Big 12 First Team selection, an NCBWA District 7 First Team pick, and am ABCA All-Region Team member.

The freshman from San Antonio led the Big 12 in home runs (21), RBI (67) and slugging percentage (.697) which were some of the top marks in the country. Jung hit .337 on the season, reaching base safely in all 48 regular season games.
