Jung, Baker Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

Texas Tech places two on District 7 First Team
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Baseball's Jace Jung and Dru Baker have been named Academic All-District First Team on Thursday for their excellence in the classroom and on the diamond.

Tech was one of four schools in District 7 with multiple representatives, which includes Division I schools from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Nevada and Idaho.

It's the second Academic award for both players this season as they were on the Big 12's Academic All-Big 12 First Team.

Jung, the Big 12 Player of the year, is coming off one of the most decorated seasons in school history as he became a consensus All-American following his seventh award earlier today by D1Baseball. He also earned the NCBWA National Freshman Hitter of the Year award, NCBWA District 7 Co-Player of the Year and was a finalist for the Dick Howser Trophy. Additionally, he was a unanimous All-Big 12 First Team selection, an NCBWA District 7 First Team pick, and am ABCA All-Region Team member.

Baker was an All-Big 12 First Team and ABCA All-Region selection after a strong sophomore campaign. Baker led the Red Raiders in batting at .343, doubles with 14 and stolen bases with 18. He played a key role at the top of the lineup with 21 multi-hit games, 11 of which were three hits or more.

Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced from July 26-29.

To be eligible for Academic All-District and All-America distinction, nominees must have a 3.30 GPA or higher to go along with legitimate on-field contributions.
