LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech volleyball head coach Tony Graystone has announced the addition of Michele Maxwell to his coaching staff for the 2021 season as the volunteer assistant coach.
"I'm very happy to welcome Michele as our volunteer assistant," said Graystone. "She's spent the last couple of years around a very successful program and I'm looking forward to seeing where she can make us better. Michele has great energy and is always looking to learn and grow, so I know she'll be a great fit and help us do big things this season."
"I'm excited to be here at Tech working with Tony and his staff," said Maxwell. "I can't thank him and his staff enough for this great opportunity. I look forward to learning from them and contributing to their future success in any way that I can."
Maxwell comes to Lubbock after two years as a graduate assistant at Texas State where she helped the Bobcats to back-to-back Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances. While on staff for the Bobcats, Maxwell was part of two 20+ win seasons, including a 31-win season in 2020, the most wins for the program since 1985. The Bobcats advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament in the spring after defeating Utah Valley in the first round. During her first season as a graduate assistant in 2019, Maxwell helped the Bobcats complete a 14-2 record in conference play capped off by a conference tournament championship.
In addition to her time as a graduate assistant, Maxwell spent time as a club volleyball coach with TopFlight Volleyball and United Volleyball.
A native of Garland, Texas, Maxwell received her bachelor's degree in general studies with a minor in exercise sports science, psychology and leadership studies from Texas State in 2018. She graduated with her master's degree in exercise science with a concentration in strength and conditioning and sports coaching in 2021.
