Spears, Rush lead the way at NCAA Regionals

Both Spears and Rush set personal best times Friday afternoon
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Freshman Hannah Spears and junior Edward Rush each led their respective squads at the NCAA Mountain regional race Friday afternoon at the UNM North Golf Course.
Overall, the Tech men placed 15th overall while the women placed 18th.
"This is one of the most difficult NCAA regional competitions in the country," head coach Jon Murray Said. "The team competed well and did their best which is what was expected. There were several personal bests runs in the race. We will keep working on the development process for everyone."
The women's 6k race kicked off the regional race as Spears etched a new 6k personal best time of 22:15.50 as she placed 90th overall. Halena Rahmaan (104th, 22:44.90) scored second for TTU with Cassandra O'Pry (113th, 23:20.90), Adele Clarke (119th, 23:48.70) and Taylor Limbaugh (123rd, 24:11.60) capping off the scoring.
Kirk Zuber (30:51.50) and Trey Leathers (32:10.60) finished 93rd and 113th, respectively, to round out the scoring.

In the men's 10k race, Rush paced the way for the Red Raiders with a time PB time of 30:05.10, crushing his previous PB time of 34:51.70 as he finished 70th. Matthew Maki was not too far behind him, finishing 78th with a time of 30:18.0.
