HOW IT HAPPENED
Set One
The Horned Frogs took an early, 9-1 lead to begin the match. A kill from Sauer stopped their run, then the Red Raiders were able to cut into the TCU advantage after Kanas, Cooper and Jones recorded a few kills. TCU was able to get the points back and hold onto their lead for the remainder of the set. However, the Red Raiders went on a 3-0 run at the end of the set thanks to a slam from Jones and a solo block from Sauer, but TCU would close it out and win by a score of 25-15.
Set Two
Texas Tech went up 5-3 in the second set when Dugan and Kanas slammed down kills and Sauer posted a service ace. The Red Raiders maintained a lead when Cooper got an ace of her own at 9-7. Texas Tech had a sizeable advantage after going up 19-15 on a kill by Jones. However, TCU went on a 3-0 run to tie things up at 20-20, then again at 23-all. The two teams went back-and-forth at the end, trying to hold off set point. The Red Raiders would grind it out as Cooper put down a kill, then forced a TCU error to win the set, 31-29.
Set Three
TCU started the third set with an 8-4 run as Tech was able to get those four points off kills from Rhodes, Maddie O'Brien, Sauer and Kanas. The Red Raiders would go on to win four of the next five points on slams from Kanas and Sauer and an ace by Rhodes to close the gap at 9-8. TCU would take a 17-11 lead before the Red Raiders answered back by winning five of six points on TCU errors and another Kanas kill for an 18-16 score. But, the Horned Frogs won seven-straight points to end the set and take a 2-1 lead, 25-16.
Set Four
The Red Raiders began the set with a 5-2 advantage thanks to slams from Jones, Sauer and Rhodes and a service ace from Adams. TCU would answer back with a 3-0 run to tie things at 5-5. Tech would go on a 3-0 run of their own when TCU had a service error and Rhodes and Sauer posted back-to-back kills. However, the Horned Frogs won five of the next six points to lead 15-12 heading into the media timeout. The Red Raiders came out of the timeout on fire, winning 10 of the next 13 points highlighted by blocks from Jones and Sauer and kills from Sauer. TCU and Tech traded points after that to tie the set at 23-23, but ultimately the Horned Frogs would pull away with a 27-25 score.

Head Coach Tony Graystone
Opening statement…
"Tough loss… It feels different than the last couple of matches. We had many opportunities to put it away, TCU just executed at a higher level. I didn't think we played poorly. I didn't think there was anything fundamentally wrong with what we were doing, they just executed at a higher level. It was hard to slow down their attackers and we pushed them as far as we could, and I wish we were still playing right now."
On the second set…
"The first set wasn't very close, so they pulled away from us late. It was good to see us get off to a better start. We knew the second set was going to be tight, and it really just became who was going to be able to score a point off their serve. The side out game on both sides was really good. It was a fun set and it was one that we really had to have to stay in the match. We found a way to point score at the end."
On the next match against Oklahoma and the game plan moving forward…
"Well, the game plan is the same as what we've been doing. We train, we put a scouting report together and we go play. Tonight's level of play for us was better than what we've seen lately. TCU played well and their offense was good… It was similar to what we saw in Fort Worth. They just executed at a higher level, so it was going to be a challenge from the start. We were right there."
#16 Setter Reese Rhodes
On how she feels being back after injury…
"I felt great. I feel like my teammates have really supported me and there's been a lot of communication between us. It just felt good to be back."
On the game plan for Oklahoma…
"Get back in the gym, train and have that winning mindset."
