Red Raiders ready for Oklahoma in Norman

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Red Raiders are back on the road this week as they travel to Norman, Okla., for a match against the Sooners on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 6 p.m.
Texas Tech is coming off a loss to the TCU Horned Frogs last Saturday. In the match, fifth-year middle Karrington Jones recorded a block, pushing her career total to 326 which now ranks 10th in school history.
Kenna Sauer posted another 19-kill performance against TCU, while also adding two blocks, nine digs and an ace. Reese Rhodes also had herself a match as she collected a double-double with 37 assists and 10 digs and totaled three blocks.
Brooke Kanas recorded 11 slams of her own and collected two blocks on the day. In addition, Kanas only needs 23 kills to rank fifth in program history with 1,083 career kills.
On the season, the Red Raiders total 1,168 kills (13.0 kills per set) and a .232 hitting clip. They also have 1,071 assists, 109 aces, 1,319 digs and 212.0 blocks. Sauer continues to lead the offense with 387.5 points and 351 kills.
Maddie O'Brien posts a team-high 37 aces and Rhodes totals the most assists with 804. Defensively, Maddie Correa still holds the most digs with 294 and Kanas tallies a team-leading 84.0 blocks.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Oklahoma holds an all-time 39-43 record against the Red Raiders, with Texas Tech winning the first matchup this season on Oct. 12 by a score of 3-1. The Red Raiders have also won four of the last five matchups dating back to Nov. 11, 2020. The Sooners come into Wednesday with a 13-10 overall record and a 3-8 record in conference, winning their Big 12 matches against West Virginia (twice) and Kansas.
As a team, the Sooners are hitting .253 on the season and holding opponents to a .199 hitting clip. They total 1,079 kills (12.7 kills per set), 1,006 assists, 122 aces, 1, 117 digs and 213.0 blocks. On the offensive end, Megan Wilson leads the Sooners with 374.5 points, 296 kills and 44 aces, while Payton Chamberlain has a team-high 601 assists. Defensively, Callie Kemohah leads with 396 digs and Morgan Perkins tallies a team-leading 97.0 blocks.
