Williams selected to NABC All-District First Team

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech senior Bryson Williams has earned NABC First Team All-District honors to add to his list of accolades.
Williams leads Tech with 13.7 points per game this season (16.1 in Big 12 play) and has earned All-Big 12 First Team, Big 12 All-Newcomer Team, Big 12 All-Tournament Team and now NABC All-District honors. He is coming off a team high 17 points in the Big 12 Championship final against Kansas where he was 8-for-17 from the field. A fifth-year senior who has started all 34 games in his first and final season at Tech, Williams has now scored 2,094 points in his career with 467 coming this year in a Red Raider uniform. He has now scored in double figures in 25 games this season and in 104 in his career.
Along with Williams, the NABC First Team also consisted of Ochai Agbaji (Kansas), James Akinjo (Baylor), Izaiah Brockington (Iowa State) and Nijel Pack. The second team from District 8 is comprised of Timmy Allen (Texas), Christian Braun (Kansas), Adam Flagler (Baylor), Mike Miles (TCU) and Taz Sherman (West Virginia). The NABC District 8 Coach of the Year went to Baylor's Scott Drew. Â
He scored a season-high 33 points in the double-overtime loss at Kansas on January 24 where he was 14-for-19 from the field and 4 of 4 on 3-pointers and also scored 21 points on 8 of 9 shooting at TCU on February 26. He also dropped 17 points in the most recent nationally ranked wins over Texas and Baylor. He leads Tech by shooting 40.5 percent on 3-pointers (34-for-84), including going 22-for-52 (42.3 percent) in Big 12 games. Williams began his career with two seasons at Fresno State in his hometown before playing the past two at UTEP. A Fresno, California native, he has played in 155 games in his career and has made 832 shots and come down with 890 career rebounds.
Williams and the Red Raiders are set to play Montana State in the NCAA Tournament First Round at 12:45 p.m. (CST) on Friday in San Diego.
