The Red Raiders look to build on a successful weekend at home as Tech swept the Texas Tech Invitational against Tulsa and Texas A&M- Corpus Christi. Tech will travel to Tarleton State for the first time in just the fourth meeting between the two programs. The Red Raiders and the Texans matched up for the first time last season at the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic in Lubbock. Tarleton State won the first meeting, 11-9 in extra innings, but it was Tech who got the better of the Texans the next two games, in dominant fashion.
The Red Raiders combined for 32 runs in the next two games against the Texans, while giving up just one run. Tech made history in a 23-0 win when Karli Hamilton smashed two of the Red Raiders three grand slams to tie an NCAA record for grand slams in a game. Hamilton and Peyton Blythe each hit grand slams in the third inning, tying the record for grand slams in an inning. On top of the record-setting offensive performance, Missy Zoch tossed a no-hitter in the win. Tech went on to win the third game 9-1 in five innings.
The Texans are off to a strong start of the season and are 10-0 at home so far with a win over Syracuse on their resume. Tarleton State has already recorded 29 home runs this season and has a slugging percentage of .482.
