Lady Raider Signee Bailey Maupin Named Miss Texas Basketball

Maupin was honored by Dave Campbell’s Texas Basketball Tuesday
LUBBOCK, Texas – The best high school basketball player in the State of Texas is coming to Lubbock, as Texas Tech Lady Raider signee Bailey Maupin was selected as the 2021-22 Dave Campbell's Texas Basketball Miss Texas Basketball Player of the Year, the publication announced Tuesday.
A 5-11 senior from nearby Gruver high school, Maupin closed her legendary career for the Lady Hounds in style, completing a perfect 33-0 season in 2021-22. The guard led Gruver to the UIL Class 2A State Championship defeating Stamford 50-38 in the championship game. Gruver's perfect season was the first in school history.
Maupin was named the UIL Class 2A State Championship MVP and finished the title game with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
A top-60 recruit according to ESPNW and a consensus four-star recruit, Maupin was named a McDonalds High School All-American nominee early this year and signed with Texas Tech back in November. The guard averaged 22 points, 7.5 rebounds and three assists a game this season.
The Gruver product closed her high school career with over 2,700 points and a pair of UIL Class 2A State Championships (2020, 2022). Maupin was a Four-Time All-District MVP selection and was named the 2020 TABC Class 2A Player of the Year. The TABC is set to announce its awards for 2022 this spring.
Maupin will arrive on campus later this summer and joins Kilgore College product Tara Kessner and high school signee Kilah Freelon in the Lady Raiders 2022 recruiting class. Like Maupin, Freelon closed her high school career winning the Colorado Class-4A State Championship, the third she won in her decorated career.
