Red Raiders wrap up ACU Naimadu Open

Tech returns home on September 17 to host the TTU Open
ABILENE, Texas – The Texas Tech cross country team wrapped up it season opening meet as the men placed second overall, while the women finished fourth, Friday evening at the ACU Cross Country Course.
"It was a nice start to the season. Both teams have been working hard and they enjoyed competing against some other runner," head cross country coach Jon Murray said. "There was quite a bit of positive things in this race, and I'm encouraged by what I saw. The freshmen are eager to keep on learning."
The Tech men scored 51 points as the women registered 85 points. Freshman Trey Leathers paced the way coming in eighth (18:47.90) with Matthew Maki (18:50.40) and Samuel Ashley (18:51.40) completed the 8-9-10 finish for Tech. Demitrius Guerrero (19:03.50) and Jaden Tumale (19:14.0) rounded out the scoring finishing 14th and 15th, respectively.
Freshman Hannah Spears (14:51.10) led the way for the women placing in 10th while Taylor Limbaugh (14:51.80) was right behind her in 11th. Adele Clarke (15:07.50) scored third for TTU coming in 16th as Sydney George (15:49.0) and Emeline Mangham (15:49.80) completed the scoring placing 26th and 27th, respectively.
Texas Tech is back in action on Sept. 17 as the Red Raiders host the TTU Open beginning at 8:15 a.m. at the Chaparral Ridge Cross Country Course (Lubbock Christian).
