BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – Texas Tech will be without Pop Isaacs and Fardaws Aimaq against LSU on Saturday due to injury. Both players remained in Lubbock to continue their rehab process. Isaacs has a sprained ankle that he suffered against West Virginia on Wednesday, while Aimaq reaggravated a foot injury.
Isaacs and Aimaq are listed as day-to-day and could be available on Monday when Texas Tech hosts No. 12 Iowa State at the United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock.
Isaacs is averaging 11.6 points per game this season and leads the Red Raiders with 47 3-pointers and 13.9 points per game in Big 12 play. A freshman from Las Vegans, he had scored in double-figures in seven straight games before only scoring two points in 18 minutes against WVU. He had a season-high 24 points against Nicholls and went for 23 points at Texas with five 3-pointers. Â
Aimaq played against Texas, Baylor and Kansas State after missing 16 games following a preseason foot injury and was again unable to play on Wednesday against WVU. He is averaging 10.0 points and 6.7 rebounds in those games. A 6-foot-11 senior from Vancouver, AImaq transferred to Tech this season after two seasons at Utah Valley and one at Mercer. He has recorded 41 double-doubles, 1,086 points and 938 rebounds in his career. At Utah Valley, Aimaq was named the 2021 WAC Player of the Year and the 2021 and 2022 WAC Defensive Player of the Year.
The Red Raiders and Tigers are set to tip at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the Big 12-SEC Challenge at the Maravich Center in Baton Rouge.Â
