Cherubet named Big 12 Runner of the Week

Cherubet won her 6k race by nearly 25 seconds
IRVING, Texas – Following an outstanding performance at the Gans Creek Classic this past weekend, Texas Tech women's cross country runner Juliet Cherubet has been named the Big 12 Runner of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Cherubet, in only her second race of the season, crossed the end line with a 6k time of 20:16.40 to come away as the top individual placer. The Kenyan claimed first by nearly 25 seconds as she helped lead the Tech women to a fifth-place team finish.

It's the first time since 2016 a TTU women's cross country runner receives the conference's weekly honor – Jocelyn Caro.

When it comes to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mountain Region rankings, the Tech women rank 12th.
