Macy Blackburn (Defender), Sam Courtwright (Freshman) and Madison White (Goalie) were all honored
RVING, Texas – Fresh off a dominant 2-0 week, the Texas Tech Red Raider soccer program was well represented in weekly Big 12 awards as defender Macy Blackburn, freshman Sam Courtwright and goalkeeper Madison White took home three of the four weekly awards, the conference announced Wednesday.
Fresh off a goal and two assists, Blackburn was honored for the first time in her career. Blackburn ensured the Red Raiders would get off to a good start on the week when she contributed a perfect corner kick service and a penalty kick goal in the Red Raiders 2-0 win over Oklahoma.
On Sunday, Blackburn was also dangerous, contributing the secondary assist on the Red Raiders first goal of the afternoon.
With the two assists, Blackburn now moved into a tie with Taylor Lytle for the second-most assists in a single season and needs just five more helpers to set the all-time program mark.
The Red Raiders second honoree, Courtwright, had one of the strongest individual games of her career in Sunday's 3-0 win over Cincinnati. Courtwright recorded a goal and an assist for her first career three-point match. Courtwright now has three goals and six assists on the year.
Tech's third and final weekly honoree continued to cement her status as one of the nation's best goalies. In the 2-0 week, White recorded two shutouts, number 33 and 34 of her career.
On the year, White has now recorded eight shutouts to co-lead the country.
This week marks the fourth straight week that Tech has had at least one conference honoree and marks five of the last six weeks that a Red Raider has earned a Big 12 weekly award.
Rising into the top-10 for first time since the 2014, No. 7 Tech returns to action on Thursday night when they travel to No. 7 BYU for the first top-10 clash in program history.
