LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Red Raiders men's tennis team has signed Niksa Arsic as announced by head coach Michael Breler on Wednesday morning.
Arsic, a Požega, Serbia native, intends to join the Red Raiders this January for the Spring season.
"We are extremely excited to have Niksa join our team in January! He has a very high ceiling to his game and we believe he will have the opportunity to make an impact for us right away in singles and doubles," Breler said.
Arsic was ranked as high as 320 in ITF singles after competing in just 13 tournaments. He is also ranked atop the Serbian National List and received his first ATP point a couple of months ago.
The Serbia native most recently qualified for the main draw of the Zlatibor 25k when he defeated Artem Cherepin, Domagoj Biljesko and Filippo Mondini at the tournament. Arsic also advanced to the second round of the Kursumlijska Banja 15k main draw after winning three matches in qualifying and another in the first round, highlighted by a win against Samuele Pieri (ATP 984). In addition, Arsic added two singles titles to his resume during his time in juniors.
"What became very clear early on in Niksa's recruiting process was his passion and commitment to his tennis and we believe his best is yet to come in the Red Raider uniform!" Breler added.
