Claudia Alnajim and Emily Lee sign with the Red Raiders
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech women's golf head coach JoJo Robertson announced on Thursday the addition of two Red Raiders – transfer Claudia Alnajim and incoming freshman Emily Lee – in conjunction with the National Signing period for the class of 2024 opening on Wednesday. Both Alnajim and Lee will be joining the 2024-25 roster.
Claudia Alnajim | Casares Malaga, Spain | Odessa College
Alnajim, a native of Spain, will transfer from Odessa College at the completion of her 2023-24 sophomore season. Alnajim's sophomore season with the Wranglers is off to a stellar start, posting five Top-10 finishes in her six fall events. She kicked off her 2023-24 campaign at the USW Fall Invitational. There, Alnajim used a pair of 75's in rounds two and three to claim a sixth-place finish. Two weeks later at the Waco River Classic, Alnajim placed fourth shooting 5-over-par. The following week, Alnajim traveled to the Ruidoso Invite where she had her best rounds of the year. She started off round one hot with a 2-under-par finish, sitting in fourth. Alnajim would conclude the Ruidoso Invite with an even-par, bumping up one spot and finishing in third place. Alnajim finished third at the Wayland Baptist Invitational and last time out at the Paul Chavez Invitational tied for first place.
Last spring, in the second half of her freshman season, Alnajim started hot after she was a co-winner in the Cactus Thaw tournament in El Paso, helping Odessa beat Lubbock foe LCU to win the tournament. Keeping with that theme, Alnajim placed tied for fourth at the NJCAA Southwest District Championship to lead the Wranglers. To cap her season at the 2023 NJCAA D1 National Tournament, Alnajim finished 13th and carded at 2-over-par 74 in the final round of the championship while the team finished fourth in its first season as a program.
In total, Alnajim played 10 tournaments in her freshman season and claimed seven Top-10 finishes, including two wins. The lowest round of her freshman season was a 3-under-par 69 and shot a 75.42 average over 24 rounds of golf. She was named a WJCAC Conference All-Academic First-Team selection, Spring 2023.
Emily Lee | Torrance, Calif. | Torrance HS
Lee, a Torrance, Calif. native, is heading from the West Coast to West Texas after she signed with the Red Raiders out of Torrance High School. Lee shot a 1-over-par 73 on Oct. 17 and finished third at the Ocean League Individual Finals. Lee advanced to the CIF-SS Individual Regional for an impressive fourth year in a row.
Lee, who has a lengthy amateur resume, has recorded 11 Top-20 finishes in the last year. In 2022, arguably Lee's best season, she had 10 Top-20 finishes throughout the year, four of which were Top-10. In February of 2022, Lee recorded her season-best finish of fourth at the Toyota Tour Cup at Oak Valley.
Staying on course, Lee notched two more top-20 finishes when she finished T-14 at the Girls Toyota Tour Cup at TCI and T12 at the Toyota Tour Cup at Redhawk. During her impressive 2022 season, Lee never finished outside of the Top 40. In 2023, Lee carved her 11th Top-20 finish when she tied for 19th at the Toyota Tour Cup in Rancho, Calif.
