Tech finished at -5 overall; Anna Dong takes home co-top indy honors
MELBOURNE, Fla. – Behind a strong final round 285 (-3), the Texas Tech women's golf program cruised to the team title at the 2023 Columbia Classic hosted by Columbia University at the Duran Golf Club Monday.
After Sunday's second round was canceled due to high winds, the weather improved for Monday's third round, allowing the Red Raiders to shoot -3 overall for the day.
Senior Anna Dong closed one of the strongest weeks of her Red Raider career using a final round 70 to earn a three-way share of the individual title, the first of her career.
Other strong performances included freshman Lauren Zaretsky finishing tied for fourth at -1 overall and classmate Shannon Tan also finished at -1 overall. Zaretsky was in position to take home the individual title after birding 15 to move to -3 overall. The Canadian shot bogey on both 17 and 18 to fall back to -1 overall.
Tan was also solid this week firing a final round 71 after shooting even par on Saturday. Both Tan and Zaretsky earned their first top-five finishes.
Tech finished at -5 overall for the 36-hole event, followed by Princeton (Even), Tulsa (+4), Penn State (+12) and Notre Dame (+13).
Old Dominion (+22), Columbia (+31), Seton Hall (+35), Richmond (+39) and Boston U (+40) rounded out the top-10. Dartmouth (+47) finished 11th followed by Youngstown State (+52), St. John's (+57) and Albany (+57).
