Dumez paces Tech on Day Two at Grayhawk

The junior shot a team-best 71 (-1) Saturday
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Tech received a strong round of 71 from Gala Dumez, Saturday afternoon in the second round of the NCAA Championships hosted by Arizona State and the Grayhawk Golf Club.
As a team, Tech (+13) sits in a tie for 22nd place with No. 5 Mississippi State. The Red Raiders sit five shots behind Duke who occupies the 15th and final advancing spot before the cut following tomorrow's third round.
After struggling yesterday, Dumez bounced back in a big way on Saturday, using an eagle on the par-four 11th hole to fire the aforementioned round of 71 (-1).
As a team, the Red Raiders shot a 298 (+10) during the hot second round.
For the week, a pair of Red Raiders sit tied for 49th, as both Shannon Tan and Lauren Zaretsky are tied for +1, one shot off the pace to qualify for Monday's fourth round as an individual.
Heading into tomorrow's third round, No. 2 Wake Forest leads the championships for the second consecutive day. The Demon Deacons are -17 for the week after firing an eight-under round of 280.
After struggling to an even par round of 288 on Friday, Stanford rebounded on Saturday, firing the round of the a day, a 15-under round of 273. The top-ranked Cardinal are two shots behind Wake.
No. 4 South Carolina sits in solo third at -14, followed by No. 11 Texas (-8). No. 24 Oklahoma State (-5) and No. 6 Texas A&M are tied for fifth at -5, followed by No. 9 USC (-4), No. 16 Pepperdine (-2) and No. 10 Florida State (-2).
The Lobos of New Mexico occupy 10th at one-under, followed Georgia (even), No. 12 Baylor (+3).
No. 23 Arizona (+4), LSU (+6) and No. 22 Duke (+8) enjoy the final three advancing spots (13-15) heading into tomorrow's third round.
No. 8 San Jose State (+9), No. 20 SMU (+10), No. 19 Clemson (+10), Michigan State (+11), No. 18 Ole Miss (+12) and TCU (+12) round out the top-20.
Miss State and Tech are tied for 22nd at +13, one shot ahead of Oregon State (+14) and two shots clear of Virginia (+15).
Augusta (+17), No. 15 Northwestern (+18), No. 17 Vanderbilt (+21), Tulsa (+31) and NC State (+33) round out the 30-team field.
After tomorrow's third round, the top-15 scoring teams and the nine best-scoring individuals from a non-advancing team will move on to Monday's fourth and final round of stroke play.
