Air Raiders set to host TBT Lubbock Regional

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Air Raiders – a group of former Texas Tech basketball players – are set to return to the United Supermarkets Arena court for The Basketball Tournament at the Lubbock Regional next week. The TBT regional begins with four games on Wednesday, July 19 that includes the Air Raiders playing at 8 p.m. against Purple Hearts.
The Air Raiders are comprised entirely of former Red Raiders including Davide Moretti (2018-20), Davion Warren (2022), Dejan Kravic (2012-14), John Roberson (2008-11), Jordan Tolbert (2012-14), Kyler Edwards (2019-21), Matt Mooney (2019), Parker Hicks (2018-19), Tariq Owens (2019), Toddrick Gotcher (2012-16), and Zach Smith (2015-18). The team was organized by former players Clark Lammert and Andrew Sorrells and is being led by head coach Jason Staudt who graduated from Tech. He is assisted by Tech legend Ronald Ross (2002-05), Robert Brashear, Gino Saucedo.
Moretti, Mooney, Owens, Edwards, and Hicks were all part of the 2019 Four Team that advanced to the NCAA Championship Final while most recently, Warren helped Tech advance to the 2022 NCAA Sweet 16.
The semifinal round of the Lubbock Regional is set for Friday, July 21 with a game at 6 p.m. and another at 8 p.m. at the USA. With a win on Wednesday, the Air Raiders would advance to play the winner of the Austin's Own (Texas alumni) and The Enchantment (New Mexico alumni) matchup. The Lubbock Regional championship will be played at noon on Sunday, July 23.
Additional regional sites include Dayton, Louisville, Syracuse, West Virginia, Wichita and Xavier with teams looking to advance to the four-team finals in Philadelphia on August 2-3. TBT is in its 10th summer of competition and is once again a 64-team, single-elimination format. The $1 million winner-take-all championship game is set for August 3 in Philadelphia.
