Five former Red Raiders to play in pro events

Highlighted by Hannah Arnolds appearance on the LPGA, five former players will appear on various professional tours during August
LUBBOCK, Texas – Highlighted by Elin Arvidsson competing at the LPGA Tours Scottish Open and future Texas Tech Hall of Famer Kim Kaufman and Gabby Lemieux playing on the Epson Tour, five former Texas Tech women's golfers will be playing professionally this month.

Recent graduate Cecilie Neilsen kicked off the busy month for the former Red Raiders by competing in Smorum Ladies Open by EC Drive, where she finished inside the top-60 after making the cut. Neilsen was bolstered by a strong opening round of 70.

Playing on the LPGA Tour this week, former Red Raider Elin Arvidsson opened up play at the Scottish Open by shooting a two-over round of 74, closing with back-to-back birdies. The native of Sweden will tee off Friday morning at 8:10 a.m. (CT) and will look to make the cut.

A pair of former teammates will turn competitors this weekend when Kaufman and Lemieux tee it up at the French Lick Charity Classic hosted by the ESPON TOUR. Kaufman opened her week with an even par 72 while Lemieux is scheduled for a late tee time on Thursday.

The fifth and final professional participant, Hannah Arnold, opened her week at the WAPT's Heritage Classic with a one-over round of 73. Arnold ended the opening day tied for 43rd overall.

In addition to the alumna also playing professionally, Tech's current team has three players competing this week at various events. Sophomore Lauren Zaretsky is through three rounds at the 109th Canadian Women's Amatuer while classmate Shannon Tan is currently in Spain playing for Team Asia at the Patsy Kankins.

Incoming freshman Klara Hurtova is the final golfer competing this week, as she tees it up at the Czech International Amateur, before heading to Lubbock for her freshman campaign.

The Texas Tech women's golf program begins its 2023-24 season on Friday, Sept. 1 at historic Pebble Beach Golf Club for the Carmel Cup.
