Ambroziak paces Tech on Day One of Sam Golden

The Freshman sits tied for fourth in her second career event
CORINTH, Texas – Led by a strong day from freshman Maja Ambroziak (-7), the Texas Tech women's golf program  finished the opening 36 holes of the Sam Golden Invitation tied for seventh. Â
The freshman led the way for Tech on Monday, firing rounds of 68 and 69 to finish the day tied for fourth at -7.
Picking up where she left off last week, sophomore Shannon Tan also ended the day inside the top-25 after firing rounds of 70 and 71. Tan is -3 for the week.
Following one of her strongest performances of the year last week, sophomore Lauren Zaretsky started out hot recording birdies on two of her first four holes. Zaretsky would finish the day +3, shooting a 72 in round one and a 75 in round two.
As a team, the Red Raiders finished -12, to end the day tied with Missouri. The Red Raiders and Tigers are four shots behind sixth place Kennesaw State and Tulsa.
Big 12 foe Houston ended Day One at -28, eight shots ahead of second place Nebraska (-20). UTSA (-19), and host North Texas (-17) would round out the top four.
The Cougars Moa Svedenskiold enjoys the 36 hole lead at -10 overall after shooting rounds of 66 and 68.Â
Tulsa and Kennesaw State (-16) are tied heading into day two, followed by Tech and Missouri. BYU (-3), Tulane (-1), TCU (-1), and Charlotte (+9) round out the bottom four.
