The Dallas native earned her first career Big 12 honor

IRVING, Texas – Fresh off scoring her second career goal on Thursday night against Arizona, Texas Tech freshman Sam Courtwright has been named the Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Week, the Big 12 announced on Wednesday.

The honor is Courtwright's first career Big 12 Freshman of the Week selection and comes on the heels of her being named to the Top-Drawer Team of the Week last week after she recorded three assists.

On Thursday night the Dallas native came up clutch, when she buried a free kick service from defender Macy Blackburn in the 15th minute.

In her first eight collegiate starts, Courtwright has recorded two goals and five assists.

Courtwright and the unbeaten Red Raiders kick off Big 12 play on Thursday night when they welcome the Cougars of Houston to the Walker. First Kick is set for 7 p.m.
