The all-time leader in clean sheets in Tech history, White held the powerful Houston offense without a goal
IRVING, Texas – Fresh off holding a Houston team that had scored 28 goals in seven matches scoreless, Texas Tech graduate student Madison White has been tabbed the Big 12 Conference's Co-Goalkeeper of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday morning.
Facing an offense that ranked inside the top-five in goals and multiple offensive categories, White helped the Red Raiders open Big 12 Conference play with a dominate 3-0 win. In the performance, White recorded her program-record 31st clean sheet and will take an over 200-minute scoreless streak into Thursday's contest against No. 14 Texas.
Due in large part to White's strong play in net, the Red Raiders are one of four teams in the country (Dartmouth, Indiana and Penn State) to have not trailed in any match this season.
White has now allowed one goal or fewer in 17 consecutive matches and 19 of her last 20 matches. For her career, the Rockwall native has allowed a goal or fewer in 56 of her 71 career games in a Texas Tech uniform.
With her 31st shutout secured, White is now second in the country amongst active players in shutouts.
TCUs Gracie Brian earned Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week while Texas' Lauren Lapomarda took home Defensive Player of the Week Honors. White and UT's Mia Justus shared Goalkeeper of the Week with Laudan Wilson of OSU earning Freshman of the Week honors.
White and the 25th-ranked Red Raiders open a two-match road swing on Thursday night when they travel to Austin to face No. 14 UT. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Longhorn Network.
