After scoring three goals in Tech’s 2-0 week, the junior was honored
LUBBOCK, Texas – The accolades keep flying in for junior Ashleigh Williams, as the Allen native was selected as the College Soccer News National Player of the week the outlet announced.
The forward contributed another strong performance, scoring three times in Tech's 2-0 week. On Thursday night in Austin, Williams scored her first goal of the week to give the 25th-ranked Red Raiders a 1-0 lead. Williams played 75 minutes in the Red Raiders' epic 2-1 win at No. 14 UT.
On Sunday in Waco, Williams provided the offense, scoring twice in Tech's 2-0 road win at Baylor. Williams recorded five of her six shots on the week in that contest.
The Texan got the Red Raiders on the board in the 24th minute before adding her second goal just eight seconds into the 53rd minute. Williams helped the Red Raiders extend their overall unbeaten streak to 18 matches and the Big 12 only unbeaten streak to 10 matches.
With the perfect 2-0 week, the Red Raiders have cracked all three national polls including the No. 14 spot in the United Soccer Coaches Association after recording the best overall start (9-0-2) and Big 12 start (3-0-0) in program history.
