Tech completes Stan Scott Memorial meet

Tech opened the 2024 season Saturday morning hosting the inagural Stan Scott Meet
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field team concluded the inaugural Stan Scott meet Saturday evening at the Sports Performance Center.

Mid-way through the meet, the TTU sprints group brought the crowd to its feet. Alyssa Colbert clocked in a PB time of 7.19 to take first, placing herself No. 8 all-time for Tech. Success Umukoro finished second with a PB time of 7.30, while Serena Clark finished fourth at 7.37.
Don'Dre Swint (1st place) led a quartet of Red Raiders who all clocked in sub-6.62 times as Swint posted a PB and world-leading time of 6.52 (T-5th all-time TTU) Shawn Brown (2nd place) was on Swint's heels at 6.53 (PB, T-6th all-time TTU) as Jalen Drayden (3rd place) posted a 6.57 (PB, T-10th all-time TTU.) Terrence Jones finished fourth at 6.61.

Temitope Adeshina and Claire Lowrey finished first and second, respectively, in the high jump both clearing 1.83m (6-0). Alexis Ivy placed 3rd with an indoor PB height of 1.75m (5-8.75). Both tied the No. 9Â mark in TTU history.Â
The "A" 4x400 relay team of Zariere Dumas, Jones, Clark and Umoibang capped off the night going 3:40.04. The "A" 4x400 men's team of Bartholomew, Drayden, Carl Hicks and Shaemar Uter finished at 3:07.93. Both teams claimed first.

In the men's weight throw, Jacob Mechler and Konner Wood led the way for Tech. Mechler posted a throw of 21.82m (71-7.25) ad Wood went 20.80m (68-3), both PB marks. The women's pole vault saw Olivia Cade clear a new PB 4.23m (13-10.50) winning the jump-off to settle first place. Kashlee Dickinson (second place) competed in her first collegiate meet clearing as Kaitlyn Banas (tied fourth) was also on her first meet as a Red Raider (Arkansas transfer) – both cleared 4.13m (13-6.50). Ella Strickland also made her Tech debut with a PB height of 3.98m (13-0.75).LIAM WALSH.....at the line ??

- Tahj Jones finished 3rd in the long jump at 7.03m (23-0.50).
- In the 600yd, Kayla Jones (1:21.35) and Charlie Bartholomew (1:09.64). claimed 1st place.
- Carson Dittel took 1st in the men's pole vault clearing 5.19m (17-0.25).
- Women's triple jump saw three Red Raiders go 1-2-3. Onaara Obamuwagun (12.86m | 42-2.25), Suzan Ogunleye (12.70m | 41-8) and Tamiah Washington (12.22m | 40-1.25).
- Mercy Umoibang registered a PB in the 200m going 24.15 finishing 3rd to lead Tech. Brown led the men in 2nd going 20.60 (PB).
