Ambroziak paces Tech on day one of CSWC

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Led by a strong day from Maja Ambroziak, the Texas Tech women's golf team completed rounds one and two of the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate on Monday. The Red Raiders are in 10th place with Tuesday's final round awaiting.
Ambroziak highlighted the Red Raiders' effort on Monday. The junior led the way carding a 2-over-par 144 after 36 holes thanks to a 2-over 73 in the first round followed by an even-par 71 in the second. After an uneasy start, Ambroziak jumped seven spots up the leaderboard after the second round to push herself into a tie for 15th at the end of play on Monday. The second-round even-par 71 pushed Ambroziak's team lead of rounds shot par or better to eight this season.
Danique Stokmans, who owns the Red Raiders' second-best score after two rounds, is 10-over and tied for 42nd. She secured herself an eagle and three birdies in the first round en route to carding a 4-over-par 75. It was the senior's second eagle this season.Â
As a team after 36 holes, Texas Tech is 39-over-par. It was a challenging day where the course average was above par in both rounds one and two. The Red Raiders carded a 16-over-par (300) in the first round and a 23-over-par (307) in the second round.
Wake Forest sits in first place at 3-over while Texas A&M and Oklahoma State are tied for second heading into day two at 6-over-par.Â
The Red Raiders will finish out the final day of the fall season Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
