STORYLINES:
Â
- Head coach Craig Snider spent four seasons with the Ladyjacks before going to Florida State. In Nacogdoches, Snider served as the hitting coach where helped the team to an NCAA Regional appearance in 2008 after they won the Southland Conference tournament.
- The Red Raiders are receiving votes for the second consecutive week after a strong 7-3 start including a 4-1 outing last weekend in San Marcos. This is the first time Tech has been receiving votes since the 2020 season.
- Freshman Logan Halleman and senior Carson Armijo currently lead the Big 12 in stolen bases and doubles, respectively. Halleman is a perfect 5-for-5 on the base paths while Armijo has ripped five doubles, already matching her season total from last year.
- Maddie Kuehl has been a pleasant surprise this season for Snider and company. The junior leads the team in innings pitched (20.1) and strikeouts (18) through six appearances, already breaking her previous single-season highs. Kuehl's season was highlighted with a complete game performance (the first of her career) in Tech's 4-1 win over Texas State where she struck out a career-high seven batters.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS:
- Texas Tech is 4-4 against Stephen F. Austin. The last time they played was in May of 2018, a game the Red Raiders won 1-0.
- The Gophers are another team Tech is .500 against historically. Both teams have won two and lost two with the last matchup being a 7-4 game in favor of Minnesota back in February of 2016.
- The Red Raiders have an 11-7 advantage over the Mean Green. Tech has won three of the last five, but North Texas took the last matchup between them as they won 11-3 in March of 2022.
