Lasmane named Big 12 Athlete of the Week

IRVING, Texas – Senior triple jumper Ruta Lasmane was named the Big 12 Athletes of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon. She shares the award this week along with Texas' Ackelia Smith.

Last weekend at the DeLoss Dodds Invite hosted by Kansas State, Lasmane won the triple jump with a leap of 13.97m (45-10), in the process, securing the No. 1 mark in the nation. It also moved her to No. 6 in TTU history.

The Latvian posted three jumps that all landed in TTU's top-10 including a 13.90m (45-7.25) jump and a 13.86m (45-5.75) mark. At the moment, she holds five of TTU's top-10 all-time indoor marks (6-10).
