The former Second Team All-AAC honoree enrolled at Tech earlier this spring
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Soccer and head coach Tom Stone have signed former Second Team All-AAC selection in defender Peyton Annen.
Â
A native of Plano, Annen enrolled at Texas Tech prior to the beginning of the Spring 2024 semester and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Â
One of the top transfers in the State of Texas, Annen transferred to Texas Tech following a strong two-year career at SMU that saw the defender play in 34 matches earning starts in 31 of those matches.
Â
Annen scored three goals and recorded an assist over that span.
Â
A 2022 AAC All-Rookie Team honoree, Annen played in 16 matches during her freshman campaign, helping lead SMU to a 10-4-5 record and a berth in the American Athletic Conference Tournament Championship game. Annen scored her first career goal at No. 11 Tennessee in 2022, helping the Mustangs to a crucial 1-1 draw over the Vols.
Â
In 2023, Annen helped the Mustangs to three P5 victories over Tennessee (2-1), Baylor (2-1) and Oklahoma State (1-0).
Â
In the end, Annen played a team-leading 1600 minutes in 2023, leading SMU to six clean sheets and overall 11-6-1 record in 2023.
Â
Annen was a Third Team All-Region selection and was named to the AAC's All-Tournament Team.
Â
With the addition of Annen, Tech's 2023-24 signing class sits at 10 overall members. Annen is one of four members of that signing class to have enrolled at Texas Tech prior to the spring semester, joining freshmen Peyton Dyess, Alana Harry and Logan Russo.
Â
Texas Tech has begun the spring portion of its training schedule and will play a six-match spring schedule that includes five home matches.
Â
HEAD COACH TOM STONE ON ANNEN:
"Peyton Annen is an experienced center back whose skill set fits very well into how we would like to be able to play from the back. She is tough on the tackle and is brave when defending the 18. Lastly, Annen has shown terrific leadership capabilities and a competitive personality that fits right in with our young squad. We feel very fortunate to have her with us for the next two seasons."
