McClung earns All-NBA G League First Team

Mac McClung continued gaining accolades for a season where he averaged 25.5 points and 6.5 assists per game when he headlined the All-NBA G League First Team that was announced on Thursday to go along with him being named the 2023-24 Kia NBA G League Most Valuable Player that was announced earlier this month. McClung played at Texas Tech during the 2020-21 season, leading the Red Raiders with 15.5 points per game.
A guard from Gate City, Virginia, McClung played for the Osceloa Magic this season where he played 27 games - averaging a league-best 25.7 points along with producing 4.7 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 1.3 steals in 35.4 minutes per game. McClung was joined on the All-NBA G League First Team by Alondes Williams, Jason Preston, Kenneth Lofton, Jr., and Oscar Tshiebwe.
He finished the year shooting .509 (252-for-495) from the floor and .396 (72-for-182) from 3-point range. He led (or tied) the Magic in scoring 13 times, led (or tied) in assists 15 times and led (or tied) in rebounding once. McClung scored in double figures 27 times, 20+ points in 27 games, 30+ points in eight games and 40+ in one game, including a season-high 40 points on Mar.21 against Birmingham.
Along with his success throughout the G League season, McClung won the 2024 NBA Slam Dunk to defend his title.
At Texas Tech, McClung was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year along with securing USBWA and NABC All-District, All-Big 12 Second Team and All-Big 12 Newcomer Team Honors. A starter in all 29 games that season, McClung scored in double figures in 21 games with a season-high 30 points at West Virginia. He helped Tech to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after scoring 16 points in the opening round against Utah State.
McClung is the first Texas Tech and Osceola Magic player to be named NBA G League MVP. He has appeared in four NBA games during his career with two games playing for Philadelphia and one for Chicago and the Lakers.
