Tech battles weather on day two of Big 12s

Prelims will all now be timed finals Saturday
WACO, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field team endured multiple weather delays, ultimately getting only the decathlon completed and a few field events late Friday night at Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium.

The first field event completed was in the morning with the women's javelin which the freshmen duo Kyeese Hollands and Leah Howard place fifth and sixth, respectively. Hollands threw 50.39m (165-4), while Howard threw 50.10m (164-4).

True freshman Trey Wilson III scored in the shot put placing fourth with a heave of 19.36m (63-6 ½). He landed did on his final throw where he was in sixth place before moving up. The mark put him No. 6 all-time for Tech and as of this week, No. 18 in the NCAA. It was the first time Wilson III has thrown 19 meters or more. His PB was 18.69m (61-4) coming in which was 35th in the nation.
