December 02, 2025 | Women's Basketball
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders welcome the Wichita State Shockers to the United Supermarkets Arena for a game on Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. Texas Tech (9-0) leads the all-time series against Wichita State with a 2-0 record, winning the last matchup on Dec. 4, 1994, 73-56.
In Coach Gerlich's career at Texas Tech, the Lady Raiders have accumulated a 38-3 (.927) record in the month of November. Tech has gone 2-0 in 2020-21, 6-1 in 2021-22, 5-1 in 2022-23, 8-0 in 2023-24, 8-1 in 2024-25 and 9-0 in 2025-26.
Only Texas Tech and Murray State have three players averaging 15 or more points per game this year. Texas Tech is also the only team with three players in the top-15 of the Big 12 in points per game - Bristow (15.8, 8th), Maupin (15.4, 11th) and Collins (15.1, 13th).
Texas Tech checks in at No. 21 in the year's first NET Rankings released on Dec. 1, 2025. The Lady Raiders hold the fourth-highest Big 12 NET Ranking behind TCU (8), Iowa State (19) and West Virginia (20). Since 2020-21, this marks Tech's highest NET ranking in the poll's season debut and is the highest ranking for the Lady Raiders in that time span after they were No. 56 in December 2023.
The Lady Raiders' defense has been stifling all season. Texas Tech has held its opponents to under 40 percent shooting from the field in all nine games, while holding seven teams to under 35 percent shooting from the field. Four times have the Lady Raiders held teams to under 20 percent shooting from beyond the arc. The Scarlet & Black are holding teams to just 31.2 percent from the field to rank eighth nationally in the category, while also holding teams to 24.1 percent from the three to check in at 25th. In addition, the Lady Raiders are forcing 22.22 turnovers per game and are holding opponents to 53.1 points per game, which ranks 35th and 24th in the country, respectively. The team's 5.7 blocks per game is also 15th nationally.
Last year, junior Jalynn Bristow totaled 3.7 points per game, 2.4 rebounds per game, 18 threes, 16 steals and 11 blocks. Already this season, Bristow tallies 15.8 points per game, 7.6 rebounds per game, 15 threes, 16 steals and 21 blocks, leading the team in points, rebounds and blocks. Bristow currently ranks ninth nationally in blocks, 14th in blocks per game (2.33), 20th in field goal attempts (126), 28th in field goals (54) and 46th in points (142).
Senior Bailey Maupin continues to find a way to the free throw line. The team's leader in fouls drawn, free throws and free throw attempts last year, Maupin currently leads the way again in all three of those categories, going 38-for-45 at the line so far. She ranks 26th in free throws made and 48th in attempts. In program history, Maupin is fifth all-time in free throws (395), free throw attempts (474) and free throw percentage (.833).
Senior Gemma Núñez has been a key component to Tech's success, helping facilitate the ball and force takeaways for opposing teams. She leads the Lady Raiders in assists (53) and steals (25) and ranks 11th and 24th nationally in those two categories, respectively. Núñez has recorded seven games with 5+ assists and six games with 2+ steals. Leading the team in assists seven times and steals five times this season, Núñez most recently totaled six assists, five steals and eight rebounds against North Texas, leading the Lady Raiders in all three of those categories. She has posted four-straight games of five or more assists and had 4+ steals in two of the last four contests. Her assist (53) to turnover (17) ratio of 3.12 checks in at 20th nationally.
Senior Snudda Collins is ranked third on the team with 15.1 points per game, all of those coming off the bench. She is top-100 in field goal attempts (106) and field goals (48) and is leading the way in 3-point percentage (minimum 10 attempts) after going 15-for-32 from behind the arc (.469). Collins has been a huge factor for the Lady Raiders, especially in scoring, as she has recorded double-digit points in all nine games so far this season (the only Lady Raider to do so).
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
