LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Red Raiders men's tennis team has added Joseph Patton, a five-star recruit out of Jonesboro, Ark., to its roster for the fall as announced on Monday morning by head coach Michael Breler.
In May 2024, Patton won the USTA National Level 3 Boys 18 tournament in singles. Patton would go on to claim five singles matches, only dropping one set en route to the title in McKinney, Texas.
A graduate of Jonesboro High School, Patton won back-to-back 5A state singles titles his freshman and sophomore years, while also remaining undefeated in district play both of those years. Now training at the Austin Tennis Academy, Patton achieved a career-high ranking of No. 43 in the Class of 2025 and a career-best national ranking of No. 37 in the USTA Boys 18 and Under category.
Also named the No. 1 recruit in the state of Arkansas, Patton earned a 30-15 singles record among other rated players in the country. He posted 12 wins over other five-star recruits, two wins over Blue Chip recruits and an impressive 11-1 record over four-star recruits.
He is set to join the Red Raiders this fall.
