Canady picks up fourth win of the season thanks to 10 strikeouts
AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 8/11 Red Raiders were able to bounce back after last night's tough loss with two wins today over UMass (3-5) and Maryland (4-4) on Saturday. Tech (8-2) began the day with Samantha Lincoln throwing a perfect game against the Minutewomen and ended it with a four-run fifth inning against the Terrapins to record their eighth win of the season.
Pitching again dominated the day for Gerry Glasco's squad. Tech threw four pitchers today and allowed just one run through 14.0 innings. Lincoln ended her perfect game with nine strikeouts and Canady's day ended with 10 strikeouts after going 5.0 innings and allowing only one hit.
The offense delivered when it needed to as Hailey Toney and Alexa Langeliers seemed to get going, as they each recorded a hit and RBI in both games – Langeliers recorded two RBI against Maryland on a double. Canady also delivered at the plate, driving in her ninth run of the season in the first inning against UMass.
Logan Halleman also recorded a hit in each game and stole two bases against UMass while Raegan Jennings delivered a pinch-hit RBI single against Maryland.
Chloe Riassetto came in to relive Canady in the second game and did a good job, allowing just one run in 1.2 innings of work before Brenlee Gonzales came in to record the final out of the game.
UP NEXT: Tech will face No. 1 Texas again tomorrow at 12:30 p.m.
