
No. 12 Red Raiders set for home opener

Tech will play six games this weekend as part of the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic
LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 12 Texas Tech softball team (8-3) will finally get to showcase its talent at home this weekend as they host the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday with the final game at noon on Monday.
The Red Raiders will begin play against Detroit Mercy (0-5) for their lone game on Friday before having back-to-back games on Saturday at 12 p.m. against UIC (4-6) and 2:30 p.m. against (RV) Indiana (8-1).
Tech will face the Hoosiers again on Sunday morning at 11:30 a.m. followed by a 2 p.m. game against UTEP (7-2) before ending its homestand with a 12 p.m. Monday matchup against the Miners.

- The Red Raiders went 3-2 in the Bevo Classic last weekend with the two losses coming against No. 1 Texas. Tech outscored their opponents by a combined score of 25-18 over the weekend and allowed just five runs in their three wins.
- Freshman pitcher, Samantha Lincoln, recorded the program's 5th perfect game after throwing 7.0 innings with nine strikeouts against UMass last weekend. Lincoln's performance was the first complete-game perfect game since Tech legend Amanda Renfro did it in 2001 against Penn State.
- Sophomore infielder, Raegan Jennings, went 4-for-4 with 5 RBI in Tech's 17-4 route of UMass. This was the first time a Red Raider recorded four hits and five RBI in a game since Brittany Warnecke went 4-for-5 with 7 RBI against Oklahoma St. in 2016.
- Junior pitcher, NiJaree Canady, continued her dominance in the circle and currently leads the nation in strikeouts with 61. She has pitched 33.2 innings and allowed just four walks while having a 0.62 ERA. Canady also leads the team with a current streak of reaching base safely in nine straight games.
- Games involving Texas Tech will be streamed on ESPN+ except for Saturday's noon game against UIC.
