Red Raiders finish 13th at Chevron Collegiate

HUMBLE, Texas – The Texas Tech women's golf team finished 13th at the Chevron Collegiate, concluding a two-day event on Tuesday at the Golf Club of Houston. After two rounds on Monday, the Red Raiders shot a 7-over-par 295 in the third and final round to end the event 19-over (883).
The Chevron Collegiate consisted of 16 teams, five of which were Top 25 opponents, that included 90 golfers in the field. No. 16 TCU claimed the tournament title behind a 34-under-par 830.
Libby Fleming led Texas Tech on Tuesday with a low-round of 1-over-par 73. Each of the remaining Red Raiders in action – Maja Ambroziak, Klara Hurtova, Kylee Loewe and Danique Stokmans – shot a 2-over-par 74.
Hurtova, who owned the best position on the individual leaderboard among the Red Raiders after Monday's first two rounds, remained on top, finishing tied for 47th. The sophomore closed her final round strong, carding birdies on two of the final three holes.
Fleming had her best 54-hole stretch this season, firing a 3-over-par 219. It was the second-best 54-hole score of her career overall, only short of her 2-under-par 214 at last year's Red Raider Invitational. The senior shot a 1-over-73 on Tuesday, after a 1-under 71 and a 3-over 75 on Monday, which placed her in a tie for 50th at the Chevron Collegiate.
The Red Raiders won't have long to wait before they're back in action as they'll travel to California's Bay Area this weekend for the Juli Inkster Invitational. It will be a two-day event, March 3-4, hosted by San Jose State at Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif.
