Shelby Frank was crowned the champion in the weight throw
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field team wrapped up day one of the Big 12 Indoor Championships Friday night at the Sports Performance Center.

Shelby Frank provided the first points on the board for Tech as she won the weight throw with a meet record 23.32m (76-6 ¼) – No. 2 all-time for Tech. On the men's side, Konner Wood scored third with a heave of 22.15m (72-8).
The men's long jump saw Zaid Latif finish third leaping 7.45m (24-5 ½). Brianna Howard qualified for the 200m finals tomorrow running a 22.74 which is No. 2 all-time for Tech.
In the final event of the evening, the men's DMR, the team of Nathan Kapel, George Garcia, Markus Brodin and Vincent Koech clocked in at 9:45.63 to take sixth overall.
