No. 12/14 Tech clinches series in dominating fashion

The Red Raiders score seven runs in the final frame to secure the series win over Baylor
Chloe Riassetto improved to 5-1 in the circle after going 7.0 innings and allowing just four hits and adding two strikeouts. Some solid defensive plays from Alexa Langeliers and Victoria Valdez helped the cause, but Riassetto made it easy on her teammates throughout the game.
Tech scored two in the opening frame and are now 16-0 on the year win scoring in the first inning. The two runs came off Langelier's first two-run homer of the day that brought in Lauren Allred who walked in the at-bat prior.
Alana Johnson continued to prove troublesome for Baylor pitching as she hit her second home run in as many games in the top of the third. Johnson's homer was also a two-run shot, scoring Langeliers this time around.
Tech turned a single into an opportunity in the fifth inning as Logan Halleman pinch ran for Allred who singled. Halleman stole second and then advanced to third on a passed ball. She then put pressure on the Bears defense after Johnson took a big lead from first base to force a Baylor error which allowed Halleman to slide safely into home and make it a 5-0 game.
The Red Raiders added two more runs in the sixth after Kiley Huffman doubled and Mihyia Davis used her third hit of the game to bring her home. Davis then stole second and after an errant throw advanced all the way home as the ball went out of play on the second attempt to get her out at third base.
With Riassetto continuing to throw up zeroes on the scoreboard, Tech had a comfortable 7-0 lead going into the final inning but left absolutely no room for doubt as they doubled the score.
Allred got things started with a single before Langeliers again brought her home by way of the long ball. Tech then loaded the bases with no outs and Anya German, who came into pinch hit, kept the foot on the gas and brought in two more runs with a single up the middle.
Davis got an RBI on a ground out to shortstop and with two runs on, Allred decided to get one more hit and roped a triple down the left field line to bring home the final two runs and put the finishing touches on a 14-0 win.
UP NEXT: The Red Raiders will close out the series at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Getterman Stadium.
