Trio of Red Raiders earn NABC All-District honors
March 18, 2025 | Men's Basketball
LUBBOCK – Texas Tech's Chance McMillian, Darrion Williams and JT Toppin have been selected to the NABC Gulf All-District First Team. The NABC announced its 2024-25 NABC Division I All-District Teams and District Coaches of the Year on Tuesday and will post its all-America teams on Wednesday. The All-District honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division I.
The NABC introduced a new model for its Division I district alignment this season, with schools arranged by state rather than by conference. The modernized NABC Division I district alignment features 10 geographic regions that each encompass multiple states. Every Division I school in each given state belongs to that state's corresponding district.
McMillian earned his second postseason honors after also being named All-Big 12 Second Team. A fifth-year senior from Vallejo, California, he is averaging 14.2 points per game and leads the Red Raiders with 69 made 3-pointers this season. He's shooting 43.4 percent from 3-point range to lead the Big 12. McMillian scored a season-high 23 points in games against Houston and Texas A&M this season and made five 3-pointers in two games. Williams was named to the All-Big 12 First Team and is averaging 14.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. A junior from Sacramento, California, he scored a season-high 27 points in a double-overtime win over Arizona State and scored 20 or more points in six games this season.
Toppin has been selected for a slew of postseason honors, being named Big 12 Player of the Year, Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, All-Big 12 First Team, All-Big 12 Newcomer Team and The Sporting News All-America Second Team. He also earned Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team. A sophomore from Dallas, Toppin leads the Red Raiders with 18.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 15 double-doubles this season. He scored a season-high 41 points in the double-overtime win over Arizona State and had a season-high 18 rebounds against Saint Joseph's. He has scored 20 or more points in 14 games this season, including three games with 30 or more.
