
No. 15 Tech ready for Big 12 Championships

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 15-ranked Texas Tech Lady Raiders are heading to Waco, Texas to compete in the Big 12 Championships starting on Friday at 9 a.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center. After winning the Big 12 regular-season title last Sunday, the Lady Raiders are the overall No. 1 seed in the tournament and have a double-bye. The Lady Raiders will face the winner between the 8-seeded Kansas Jayhawks and the 9-seeded TCU Horned Frogs.
Kansas leads the all-time series against Texas Tech (19-2, 12-1 Big 12) with a 23-20 record. However, the Lady Raiders are on a four-match winning streak against the Jayhawks since 2023. TCU was Tech's one loss in conference play this year as the Horned Frogs currently lead the series by a 28-15 record. Kansas, TCU and BYU all finished tied for seventh in the regular-season standings.
The Lady Raiders are led in dual singles wins by No. 96 Yekaterina Dmitrichenko with a 17-1 record and a 11-1 Big 12 record. She is 8-0 at court two and 9-1 at court three in singles. Following her is Hailey Murphy with a 12-2 dual record, mostly coming at court five, as well as Jermine Sherif with a 10-0 record, nine of those wins coming at court six.
In dual doubles, the No. 7-ranked tandem of Mariia Hlahola and Avelina Sayfetdinova lead the team with a 15-2 record, all at court one. At court two, Dmitrichenko and Murphy are 10-2, while the pairing of Sherif and Lila are 12-3 at court three.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
The No. 39-ranked Kansas Jayhawks are 13-10 on the season and went 7-6 in Big 12 play. Kansas has won three of its last five matches against Utah, Iowa State and Kansas, while falling to Oklahoma State and BYU. The Jayhawks are led in dual singles wins by both No. 116-ranked Gracie Mulville and Kyoka Kubo with 13 apiece. All of Mulville's wins have come at the top of the lineup. In dual doubles, the No. 34 duo of Mulville and Heike Janse Van Vuuren lead the way with a 12-8 record at court one.
The No. 45-ranked TCU Horned Frogs are 13-10 overall and went 7-6 in conference. The Horned Frogs won their first-round match at the Big 12 Championship yesterday by a 4-0 score over Houston. Before that, TCU went on a three-match losing streak to Baylor, Arizona and Arizona State. In dual singles, Yu-Chin Tsai leads the team with 11 wins, mostly at court four, followed by both Raquel Caballero and Tomi Main with nine each. In dual doubles, the No. 24-ranked team of Isabel Pascual and Jade Otway lead the team with 13 wins at court one.
