Phil Steele magazine tabs 12 Red Raiders to preseason team

LUBBOCK, Texas – Let the preseason debates begin.
Phil Steele, of Phil Steele Magazine, one of the most respected prognosticators of college football, has released his 2025 preseason All-American Teams and preseason Big 12 teams, as part of his "college football bible," dubbed by many experts in the industry. It's an annual summer tradition that signals football season is around the corner, helping spark the excitement that the season is almost here.
For Texas Tech's highly anticipated 2025 campaign, the publication unveiled on Wednesday that 12 Red Raiders earned spots on Steele's preseason Big 12 Team, highlighted by two also tabbed to Steele's All-American Team, Jacob Rodriguez (second-team LB) and Lee Hunter (fourth-team DT).
The official All-Big 12 preseason teams, as voted on by media members who regularly cover the league, will be released in the days leading up to Big 12 Media Days, which will take place July 8-9.
