
Kimaru named Big 12 Runner of the Week

The freshman takes his second career weekly honor
IRVING, Texas – Texas Tech freshman cross country runner Titus Kimaru was named the Big 12 Runner of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. The weekly honor is the second of his career as he claimed his first one two weeks ago.
In his second collegiate cross country race, Kimaru won the meet by 23 seconds with a time of 22:51.2 as he paced a 1-2-4-12-25 finish by Tech who won the Texas Tech Open last Saturday.

Kimaru now has a 5k and 8k race under his belt as he opened the season two weeks ago winning the Lori Fitzgerald Memorial Open by 20 seconds.

Texas Tech will have this week off before heading to Columbia, Mo., to compete in the Gans Creek Classic on Friday, Sept. 26th. The course will serve as a preview for the NCAA Championships (Nov. 22).
