No. 21 Tech hosts ITA Kickoff Weekend

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 21 Texas Tech Lady Raiders are set to host ITA Kickoff Weekend for the first time since 2018 as they welcome the No. 10-ranked Oklahoma State Cowgirls (0-0), the Wichita State Shockers (2-1) and Long Beach State (0-0).
As the top-seed in the regional, Tech will face 4-seeded Long Beach State on Friday at 2 p.m., while No. 2-seed Oklahoma State will take on No. 3-seed Wichita State at 6 p.m. on Friday, both matches at The Falls Tennis & Athletic Club (4705 112th St.). The championship match will take place on Saturday at 2 p.m., followed by the consolation match at 6 p.m. at The Falls. The winner of the Lubbock Regional will earn a bid into the ITA National Team Indoor Championships on Feb. 6-10 in Illinois.
Texas Tech (2-0) is coming off back-to-back doubleheader sweeps against UTRGV and Abilene Christian last weekend. Five Lady Raiders were a perfect, 2-0 in singles play against the Vaqueros and Wildcats in Ella Brownback, Elena Daskalova, Yekaterina Dmitrichenko, Mariia Hlahola and Kseniia Logvin. In doubles, the No. 75-ranked pair of Hailey Murphy and Dmitrichenko earned two wins to lead the team.
The Lady Raiders are 2-0 all-time against Long Beach State, last winning by a 5-2 score on Feb. 24, 2012 against the Beach. Oklahoma State leads the series against Tech, 17-23, with their last win coming in 2024. Last season, the Cowgirls and Lady Raiders did not play one another, but both teams held a three-way tie for the Big 12 regular season championship with a 12-1 conference record. Texas Tech also leads the series against Wichita State, 6-1, with their last meeting coming on Jan. 27, 2018 when Tech won 4-0. Â
