The defender scored and tallied two assists in the Red Raiders perfect week
LUBBOCK, Texas โ Fresh off a strong week that featured her scoring once and assisting on two more goals, Texas Tech defender Eleanor Hays was named to the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week, the publication announced Tuesday.
A native of Lewisville, Hays contributed to the Red Raiders first two goals on Thursday night in the 3-0 win over Oklahoma State as her service to fellow defender Kylie Bahr led to the
Raleigh Greason goal just two minutes and 53 seconds into the match.
After helping on the first goal, Hays took matters into her own hands on the second strike, burying a rebound off a Taylor Zdrojewski strike for her second career goal.
On Sunday afternoon it was Hays' patented free kick service that found the head of Zdrojewski and later the foot of Bahr for the Red Raiders lone goal in the 1-0 win over TCU, Tech's first in
Fort Worth since 2014.
The Red Raiders enter the week ranked inside the top-15 of both the TDS Poll (12) and the iWSOC poll (8) and are one of four unbeaten squads left in the country: UNCW, Villanova and
Vanderbilt.
Winners of five straight and seven of eight, Tech turns its attention to a key Big 12 showdown Friday night at No. 22 BYU. First touch from Provo is set for 8 p.m. (CT)/7 p.m. (MT).
