No. 22 Lady Raiders go undefeated in Sunday doubleheader

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 22 Texas Tech Lady Raiders capped off a successful Sunday doubleheader at the McLeod Tennis Center, opening the day with a 4-3 win over Oregon before closing out the weekend with a dominant, 7-0 sweep of Sam Houston.

Against Oregon, Texas Tech took an early advantage by claiming the doubles point, earning victories on courts two and one. Mariia Hlahola and Kseniia Logvin set the tone for the match with a decisive 6-2 win, before the No.75-ranked duo of Yekaterina Dmitrichenko and Hailey Murphy clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 against Oregon's top pair.

In singles play, No. 110 Murphy struck first at court one for the first time as a Lady Raider, earning a straight-set win to take the score to 2-0. On court five, Daskalova fell to Oregon's Hinata Furutani, 6-2, before Hlahola defeated Virginia Crocker on court three, 6-4, 7-5. Logvin battled through a three-set comeback to secure the clinching point for Texas Tech, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.

To open up against Sam Houston, the Lady Raiders took the doubles point with wins on courts one and three, Logvin and Dmitrichenko cruised to a 6-1 victory at court one. Sam Houston duo Nayuma Subba and Christine Jevicky picked up a win on court two over Daskalova and Murphy, while the pairing of Ella Brownback and Havana Kadi followed with a 6-4 win to clinch the doubles point.

Singles play continued Texas Tech's way with a shake up in the lineup as Havana Kadi played in her first match and with Daskalova, Brownback and Logvin playing on their highest court of their careers as Lady Raiders. Logvin opened up singles with decisive, 6-2, 6-1, win on court two followed shortly after by Daskalova on court three in quick sets, 6-1, 6-2. To clinch the second match of the day, Hlahola took down Nayuma Subba, 6-1, 6-2, on court one.

After the match was clinched, play continued along as Brownback picked up a win on court four over Adi Venkatakrishnan in matching straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. On court six, Andreea Lila followed suit with a defeat of Isabella Garza, 6-4, 6-3. Kadi on court five earned a hard-fought win as she took down Sara Sadadinovic in a tiebreaker, 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (8), for her first dual singles win of her career.

Up next, the Lady Raiders head to Santa Barbara, Calif., on February 6-7 to compete against Arizona, Florida State and UC Santa Barbara.
