No. 22 Lady Raiders defeat Arizona on Friday

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The No. 22 Texas Tech Lady Raiders earned a gritty, come-from-behind win over the Arizona Wildcats, 4-3, at the Arnhold Tennis Center on Friday afternoon. The Lady Raiders (6-1) also played the Florida State Seminoles in doubles, winning the double point to take a 1-0 lead over the Seminoles.
Against Arizona (4-3), the Lady Raiders started hot when No. 62-ranked Yekaterina Dmitrichenko and Hailey Murphy defeated Josie Usereau and Maria Garcia in a decisive, 6-1 set at court one. Arizona evened it up with a win on court three, 6-2. Texas Tech then clinched the doubles point at court two after Mariia Hlahola and Kseniia Logvin defeated Martyna Ostrzygalo and Ciara Moore by a 7-6 (2) score.
Arizona took a 3-1 lead after winning the first three singles matches of the contest. The Lady Raiders pushed back though, getting a win at court five from Ella Brownback after she beat Garcia in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. At court six, Andreea Lila earned a 7-6 (7), 6-1 victory against Tanvi Narendran to tie things up. Clinching the match was Murphy at the top court after she came back to defeat Ostrzygalo, 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (3).
Later in the evening, Tech and Florida State faced off in doubles play. The No. 62-ranked duo of Dmitrichenko and Murphy continued where they left off, taking down Tina Li and Laura Putz by a 6-1 score on court one. Then, Hlahola and Elena Daskalova clinched the doubles point at court two when they defeated Eva Shaw and MaryBoyce Deatherage, 6-2.
Up next, the Lady Raiders continue singles play against Florida State on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT before playing a full match against host UC Santa Barbara at 3 p.m. CT.
