Texas Tech improves to 11-7 after victory over UTSA
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Red Raiders earned another win in their spring season after defeating the UTSA Roadrunners, 4-1, Sunday, at the McLeod Tennis Center.Â

Texas Tech (11-7) won the doubles point to start the match over the Roadrunners (3-11) with wins on courts one and two. On court two, the Red Raider duo of Sebastian Abboud and Tyler Stewart downed Maximillian Ontiveros and Ben Chetewy Ungar by a 6-1 score. Niksa Arsic and Thiago Guglieri followed on court one with a 6-2 victory over the UTSA duo of Enzo Vargas and Timea Bretin, halting play at the third and final court with UTSA barely leading, 5-4, at the time.Â

In singles play, Arsic and Gugleiri quickly secured singles points to take the Red Raiders to a 3-0 lead over the Roadrunners with straight-set, 6-1, 6-1, victories on courts one and four. The Red Raiders won the first set on all six courts en route to their second win in as many days after blanking Oklahoma State, 4-0, at home Saturday.
Felipe Pagnacco secured the final point for the Red Raiders after a quick 6-2 victory in the opening set at court three and then a 7-6 win to clinch the match. Pagnacco won, 7-3, in a tiebreaker over Timeo Bretin, leaving play on courts two and five unfinished after the match was clinched. UTSA's lone singles win came at court six with Ben Chetewy Ungar edging Thomas Van Den Dooren, using a 7-6 victory and an 8-6 tiebreak in the first set and then a 6-1 win in the second frame.
